Allesandra looking at a slide she made.

"Can I borrow a microscope to look at my slides?" These hand-held microscopes are great! They characteristically magnify from 40x to 100x. Fingerprints, insects, flowers, and much, much more are fair game for inquiry investigations.

Here Carla displays the book, Miss Rumphius, that she used to introduce a lesson on seed germination and growth while a student displays the Bag Garden she constructed.

This Bag Garden included a variety of seeds on a moistened paper towel in a sealed plastic bag. Included also is a ruler to measure seed germination and growth.

Jeffery prepares his Bag Garden.

Vicky displays her Bag Garden. All children make their own and predict seed growth.

Children tape their Bag Gardens to the classroom windows for observation, measurement, and recording data.

Carla leads students in observational investigations of rocks.
