Goals of the Project

The goals of MAIS K-6 Scientific Inquiry are to:


1. identify and prepare inquiry-related instructional experiences appropriate for grades K-3 and 4-6 students, such experiences to correlate with and enhance existing MAIS science curricula while aligning with the standards of Project AERO and NSES. prepare a cadre of grade K-3 teachers to engage children in inquiry, investigation, science process skill development, and design technology in their own classrooms and schools.


2.
prepare a cadre of grade 4-6 teachers to engage children in inquiry, investigation, science process skill development, and design technology in their own classrooms and schools.

3.
prepare participating MAIS teachers to provide leadership and staff development assistance for their teaching colleagues.

4.
develop and make available to MAIS and other overseas schools via the world wide web teacher- friendly models of activities promoting process skills, inquiry, investigation, and design technology.
