Science
and Technology School Resource Suppliers
Teaching children processes of science, inquiry, investigation, and
design technology requires us to actively engage children with
science and technology resources. K-6 science must be hands-on
science. To learn about magnets children must investigate magnets.
To learn about electricity they must construct electrical circuits
using batteries, bulbs, and wire. To learn about rocks they need
assorted rocks to observe, classify, and test. To investigate
microscopic worlds they need hand lenses and microscopes. To
construct and test bridges, towers, boats, and egg catchers, they
need building materials. Interacting with materials and supplies is
at the heart of learning science, inquiry, experimentation and
design technology. Just as we would never teach reading without
books, we should never teach science or design technology without
supplies. Materials, supplies, and equipment are absolutely
essential for learning science. Although many classroom-usable
science resources may be obtained locally, following is a list of
suppliers of science materials and equipment. All include resources
for K-6 science and/or design technology and all will ship to
American overseas schools. Catalogs may be found online or secured
by contacting these suppliers: |
